Frequently Asked Questions About Acrylic Bath Systems

1. WILL THIS WORK FOR MY STEEL/RUSTED IRON TUB, OR A FIBERGLASS TUB?
Our acrylic manufacturer has molds for 4 1/2', 5', and 5 1/2' steel and cast-iron tubs. A dent, rust, or refinishing that is pulling away is no problem. If the existing fiberglass tub provides sufficient structural strength, a tub-liner can be installed in quite a few styles.

2. DOES IT WORK FOR OLD-STYLE, "ROLLED-EDGE", OR CLAW-FOOT TUBS?
Neither old-style, "rolled edge" tubs nor claw-foot tubs are candidates for a tub-liner. Early tub manufacturing processes allowed deviations to the extent that measurements taken on one tub may not accurately fit another tub of the exact style.

3. IS THIS JUST SPRAYED ON?
No, this is an acrylic tub that uses your existing tub as a foundation. We come to the house and take 13 measurements and photos which are sent to the factory. The factory enters the figures into a Tub ID program to determine which of our hundreds of molds is correct. Then, they take a 1/4" solid sheet of acrylic and heat it to 400 degrees. It is then placed over your tub mold and the air is vacuumed out forming the tub to your exact dimensions.

4. WHAT COLORS ARE AVAILABLE?
The tub-liners are solid white, almond, bone or grey. The walls also come in the solid colors as well as an almond and a grey marble pattern.

5. CAN I INSTALL THIS MYSELF?
We do not sell the acrylic to do-it-yourselfers. The installation is done by specially trained technicians using industry-specific tools that are not sold to the general public. This high quality acrylic is also very expensive, so that if you were to cut a panel wrong, you would be very unhappy.

6. HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE?
A tub can usually be installed in 2-4 hours. With a new wall surround, ceiling panel, new faucet or other accessories, it typically takes between 1-2 days. You will be able to use the bath the next morning.

7. CAN WE TAKE OUT OUR TUB AND PUT IN A SHOWER?
Yes, in fact many homeowners are doing that now. It is a wonderful option to ease the bathing experience for the handicapped and the elderly, as well as for those of us who have no use for the tub.

8. HOW DO I CLEAN MY NEW TUB/SHOWER?
There is no need for abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, they will dull the gloss in a period of years.
